Fashion Minority Alliance at the V&A Museum Upstart Festival

Empowering the Next Generation of Creative Talent

Our fourth year collaborating with the V&A Museum’s Upstart Schools Day Festival was a powerful reminder of why investing in young creatives matters. Fashion Minority Alliance brought together ten secondary schools from across London to explore real pathways into fashion, beauty, film, and the wider creative industries — a space where imagination meets opportunity and regeneration is reshaping the future of design.

Throughout the day, students learned directly from leading industry voices including Oscar‑nominated costume designer Mayes C. Rubeo, international athletic apparel brand Gymshark, Vogue Business Senior Reporter Maliha Shoaib, and film‑and‑fashion duo SIOH. Their insights offered students hands‑on experience, mentorship and a rare window into the creative world.

Students sketched, crafted, asked questions, joined panel talks, explored exhibitions, and built confidence through immersive workshops. These moments of belonging, skill‑building and industry access sit at the heart of our mission: opening doors for young people who are too often excluded from fashion and beauty careers.

The next generation of creative talent is bold, imaginative and ready to lead. Watching their confidence grow as they connected with new ideas, peers and professionals reaffirmed exactly why our work matters.

We are proud to champion emerging talent who deserve access, opportunity and a seat at the creative table. Their voices are powerful. Their ideas are real. And their future is bright.

Their futures deserve investment. Whether you’re a brand, educator, funder, or industry leader, your partnership can transform a young person’s trajectory.

Donate. Collaborate. Mentor. Partner. Together, we can regenerate the industry from the ground up.
